What a pretty day, I tells ya. This is the Des Moines Marina. I took this from the pier today. This is about 2 miles from our house, and downtown Des Moines (cute little marina town) is right behind those condos.
Mom, this is where I was hanging out when I called Palle to wish him a happy Step-father's Day. You guys have GOT to come up here and check this place out.

Glasses at last!
Well, I lasted 34 years without them... but the details on the horizon and far-away traffic signs were increasingly getting fuzzy so Jim dragged me in to get an eye test. :)
So... I've joined The Club! I'm an official "four-eyes." Part-time, at least.
Really I only need them for driving "at night or in the rain" (per the eye doctor)... but I can't help but wear them more than that because I can actually make out each individual leaf on every tree! And when sitting in Anthony's, I can make out boats and houses over on Vashon Island! And the white caps on the water are clear. And I can see what that person is doing over there in their window!
I mean... they're good for driving and stuff. ;)

The Mini Mac!
No lie. This is my whole computer. No more big gargantuan loud thing under my desk that I hit my knee on.
God bless the mini-Macintosh.

Any takers?
You know... we have a guest bedroom set up, as well as a private bathroom and living room set up downstairs if ANYONE wants to visit.
Alas, we have no takers.
Seriously, free room and board if you want to visit the Emerald City.

The Great Big Bed
Today Jim decided it was time for a new mattress. Would you look at how tall this sucker is? I'm afraid I'll fall to my death on this thing!
(But maaannnn is it comfy.)

New TV!
So yesterday... I drag Jimmy to Best Buy so I can purchase a Gameboy game... and we walk out with THIS. Look at our new teeeveeeee! And it's the kind you can hang on the wall, too.
We popped a DVD in and couldn't take our eyes off the screen. The clarity is un-REAL. You can't beat the high def, baby.
I don't think we'll ever need to go to the movie theater AGAIN.

Cruising Seattle
So we're driving downtown headed towards Pike's Market, and while sitting at a traffic light, a cruise ship passes by. You don't see that every day!
Although this city drives me up the wall sometimes, it's stuff like this that makes me love it.

Who is this punk ash?
A hint. He lives in my house!
I wonder what a 15 year old chick from Salt Lake City who had all Mormon friends would've thought of this 16 year old punk from The Valley back in the day?
THANKS FOR THE PICTURES, TERI! Rock steady, girlfriend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!!
HAPPY #63 MOM!
I just wanted to say I LOVE YOU and I miss you very much and I'm sorry that I'm over 800 miles away on your birthday. (Okay, you can blame Jim for that one.) Just kidding!
Cards are okay, but they eventually get thrown away, so I thought I'd put your cute, mid-30's mug on the INTERNET. :) Hee hee. Look at those gams!!!
Know that you are always in my heart... and know that I think you are one smart, funny, gracefully-aging, honest, loyal, sweet, pretty, giving, loving lady. I mean it. I love you.
Wait... I think you're a Republican now. I take that all back.
:) J/K
Love....
The Daughter
PS... I'll check the company store weekly for your gifts!

My husband, the AUTHOR.
Here's Jim getting ready for his 3rd book signing event. This one was at the university Barnes & Noble in Seattle... apparantly the 3rd largest B&N in the country. It's the first one I've gone to (it was a trip seeing people treat him like a celebrity); the first one was in Olympia, and the 2nd one was in Kennewick. He said the Kennewick one has been the most fun so far.
I can't believe I'm lucky enough to be married to this guy. :)

Oldie but a goodie
In celebration of the last Star Wars movie coming out next week... this picture was taken the year the very first Star Wars hit the big screen.
That... and the last time I was skinny! ;)

Look who's moving to the neighborhood!
Yep... Jim moved me to a town with SEX OFFENDERS! Check it out! This was in the crime section of the weekly community paper that gets left in our mailbox each week.
And she's just a few blocks away. :) I can't wait to run into her at the grocery store.
Click on the picture to enlarge it if you want to read the article.

Nicholas James Allen
My friend Matt is one proud dad. But seriously... this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen one of my friends create.
Can you imagine if you took a picture of your kid every single day of his life and watched a person transform over a lifetime? This is possible now because of technology... and a little persistance.

Stuff that weirds me out... or ticks me off!
So I figure I might as well post something other than pictures. I'm sitting here having random thoughts tonight so here goes. My apologies if I offend anyone. :)
THINGS THAT WEIRD ME OUT:
Clowns
Monkeys
Black widow spiders
Millipedes
Mimes
Adults that love Disney
Carousels
Loose meat
Brussel sprouts
Thinking about breaking an ankle
My bellybutton being touched
The deep sea
THINGS THAT TICK ME OFF:
People that pride themselves as being a**holes or bitches
Customer service representatives that powertrip
People who don't listen to you
Cruelty to animals or children
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Litterbugs
Smokers who aren't considerate
Injustice in general
People that spoil their kids
Road ragers
That is all. Feel free to leave a comment about stuff that weirds you out or ticks you off. I think the only person that reads my blog is my mom.
So on that note... HI MOM!!!! :) Let me know if you want anything specific for Mother's Day or your birthday... otherwise, I'm picking!

Look... what's that? Yes.... IT'S..........
NEW WINDOWS! And they don't come cheap, folks. It's amazing what a difference an extra pane of glass will make. Our heating bill has gone down and this summer we won't roast to death like last year.
Seriously, we'd come home at night in July where it was nice and cool outside, and inside out house was 95 frickin' degrees. ALL NIGHT LONG. Crappy windows will let cold AND heat in, people. Our house was an oven. (This is also due in part because no one has air conditioning in Washington, a concept completely foreign to me!)
Anyhoo... dig the bay window in the kitchen!

VANCOUVER, BC... April 2005
Okay! Here are just a few pictures I took on our weekend get-away. If you can, read from the bottom up, starting with the first picture "Vancouver Jimmy." I'm still trying to figure out how to organize stuff on this thing. Let me know what you think of the pictures! (Even though it was rainy, it was still a cool trip. We definitely want to go back when it's sunny.)
Now that's a library!
If you're gonna build a library... WOW. Check out Vancouver's!!! This is Michelle-heaven, baybeee. :)
