PHOENIX FESTIVAL 2005
The following are pics from the Phoenix Fest; a 5 day electronic music festival held out on private property in Klickitat County, WA. (Out in the middle of NOWHERE) We were only able to stay 2 nights due to unexpected sleep deprivation, but had an ABSOLUTE BLAST. Basically, it was an outdoor rave and Jim's discovered a new love... techno!!
We were the first people to claim this area of camping, and eventually we were surrounded by other campers. And look how nicely we set up our camp! This is the first time we've tried camping on our own, and I think we did a pretty good job. We bought all the equipment just days before... and thank GOD we bought the canopy at the last minute because we would have FRIED in the sun otherwise. We would have bought better sleeping pads if we were aware we'd be setting up on volcanic rocks.
I'm still hurting... but DAMN did we have a good time. The following pics don't do this whole experience justice. We were having too much fun to take more pictures.

The Delivery Truck
This is the delivery truck that delivers "mail that cannot be delivered" at Burning Man.** We saw it the first day we arrived, and surprisinly ended up being neighbors at camp with the friends of the guy who owns and drives the truck. We found ourselves riding around in it at 2am Saturday morning. :) (See pics of Michael and Dawn - our neighbors - below)
**My mom could be wondering what Burning Man is. Mom... it's the wildest event of the year held in Gerlach, NV once a year in September. Is it a coincidence Gerlach is my stepdad's last name? WHO KNOWS!

Our Neighbor Michael
Michael and Dawn were our neighbors at camp at the festival. They were unexpectedly wonderful and friendly... definitely one of the highlights of our whole experience. They live on Capitol Hill in Seattle and are our age.

Dawn... Goddess of Hooping
Watch the master work her magic. Dawn says to her... hooping is like meditation.
A convert!
Jim... completely impressed he mastered this hoop. (He's never tried to hoola-hoop in his life!)

OCD is your friend!
I just had to put this up here. I came home from work one day recently to discover Jim organized the refrigerator! Check it out!
Who said a little obsessive compulsive disorder was bad anyway?
And yes, I'm obsessed with hot sauces. :)

Diggin' it the most
Jim is lovin' the Hawaii shirts I bought him for his birthday. Now he's decided to give up his trademark plaid shirts for ones that are more colorful and fun.
I've created a monster.

Redondo Beach.... WASHINGTON!
What did I do this afternoon? I went to REDONDO BEACH. Well, Washington, that is. :)
Sure was a pretty day.

Redondo Beach nummers
We are *so* coming back here for the seafood Sunday brunch at Salty's.
Check out the cute fish bar! Weirdly, it smelled like donuts when I passed it.

Puget Sound
Seriously. It's days and views like this that make it soooo hard to want to go back to Utah. I think that day will happen... but I wish I could take this with me.
What are YOUR gas prices at?
Downtown Des Moines.
Saturday, July 9th
I saw a picture of gas prices on Catalina Island in California and they're at $3.50 for the cheap stuff!

POOOODLE Alert!
Quick! Step on it!
I have this new love/hate relationship going on with poodle dogs everywhere. I just think they are the most obnoxious looking, froofy pets and don't understand why people like them.
I'd rather own a snake! :)
